A man known only as “Double Dick Dude” has released a memoir entitled Double Header: My Life With Two Penises.
The anonymous American came to international attention at the start of last year when he took part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread, in which people were invited to question him about life with diphallia, the condition which he claims has given him two functioning penises.
The man - who is bisexual and says he has had more than 1,000 sexual partners - was inundated with interview requests and reality television offers after his appearance on the site.
But, in an interview with Rolling Stone to promote the release of the book, he said he would never forgo his anonymity.
“If Superman revealed to the world he was Clark Kent, he would never ever be left alone,” the man explained.
In the book he writes about his time in secondary school - where classmates’ taunts made it the only period of his life in which he regretted being born with diphallia - as well as his experience of orgies, and encounters with “heterosexual” men who were fascinated by his condition.
“The girls were always difficult,” he said. “Guys were always game for action, even the guys who identified as straight... Something about two dicks has an effect on men, much more than women.”
And while his two penises have fascinated many, at other times they have proved a hindrance to his relationships.
“The most upsetting was a girl I actually dated seriously after I got over all the one-night stands… When it came down to it, I told her that I was built different than most guys and she said she didn't care. I revealed them to her and she definitely cared. She told me to get out and ended the relationship. It still stings when I think about it.”
The writer told Rolling Stone that he had decided to publish the book to satisfy the public’s curiosity, and that he was “more than comfortable financially” without capitalising on his diphallia.
